01 — ICED COFFEE ALL YEAR

We refuse to believe iced coffee has a season.

Cold outside? Iced coffee.

Rainy morning? Iced coffee.

You woke up and immediately regretted your decisions? Iced coffee.

There's something about cold coffee, cold milk and a glass full of ice that just works.

And thankfully, nobody seems interested in going back.

02 — KNOWING WHERE YOUR COFFEE COMES FROM

“Coffee” used to be enough information.

Now we're asking questions.

Where was it grown?
Who grew it?
How was it processed?
How was it roasted?

Not because every cup needs a ten-minute explanation.

Because knowing where something comes from makes drinking it more interesting.

Coffee isn't just a flavour.

There's a whole story behind it.

03 — LIGHT ROASTS THAT ACTUALLY TASTE LIKE SOMETHING

We're very happy that coffee doesn't have to taste like dark brown anymore.

Good lighter roasts can be floral, fruity, citrusy, sweet, juicy or surprisingly tea-like.

They can taste completely different from the coffee you grew up drinking.

And that's kind of the point.

More flavours. More ways to drink it. More reasons to try something new.

04 — SPECIALTY COFFEE GETTING LESS SERIOUS

This might be our favourite one.

Coffee can be technical without being intimidating.

You can care about extraction and still drink your latte with a straw.

You can know your brew ratio and still add sugar.

You can talk about processing methods and then order an iced mocha.

Knowing more about coffee shouldn't make you enjoy it less.

It should give you more things to enjoy.

05 — COFFEE MENUS GETTING WEIRD

Brown butter.

Tonic.

Orange.

Coconut.

Cardamom.

Chocolate.

Salt.

We're into it.

Not every coffee needs to be experimental. But when someone puts an unexpected ingredient next to a good espresso and somehow makes it work?

We'll try it.

Some experiments fail.

Some become your new order.

That's a pretty good system.

06 — THE RETURN OF THE SIMPLE CUP

At the same time, we're also very happy to see things getting simpler.

A good espresso.

A properly made latte.

A filter coffee.

Milk and coffee over ice.

Sometimes the best thing you can do to coffee is leave it alone.

No cloud of foam.

No seventeen toppings.

No edible glitter.

Just good beans, good technique and a cup worth finishing.

07 — PEOPLE ACTUALLY CARING ABOUT MILK

Milk isn't just something you add at the end anymore.

Dairy, oat, almond, coconut — each one changes the drink.

Some bring sweetness.

Some bring body.

Some let the coffee shine.

Some completely take over.

There's no universally correct choice.

The best milk is the one that makes your coffee taste the way you want it to.

08 — COFFEE AS A REASON TO HANG OUT

This one isn't really a coffee trend.

It's more of a lifestyle choice we're happy to support.

Coffee shops aren't just places to grab a cup and leave anymore.

They're where you meet someone.

Work for three hours.

Read something.

Talk nonsense.

Have a first date.

Have a second coffee after the first coffee.

Stay longer than you planned.

Coffee tastes better when there's somewhere to be.

Or nowhere to be.

THE TRENDS WE CAN LIVE WITHOUT

Coffee served in something so complicated you need instructions.

Drinks that are 90% garnish.

Menus with twelve words for one size.

Being told there's a correct way to enjoy your coffee.

And anything that requires us to download an app before taking a sip.

KEEP THE GOOD STUFF

Trends come and go.

That's what makes them trends.

But the best ones become habits.

Better coffee.
More curiosity.
Less intimidation.
More experimentation.
More people finding their own way to enjoy the cup.
